Kate Middleton’s Maternity (Pregnant) Dress Style

In November 2010, soon-to-be Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton strolled into the Throne Room in St. James Palace on the arm of fiancé Prince William and stole the hearts of fashion-watchers everywhere. Her sapphire blue Issa wrap dress was perfect for the occasion: sleek and slenderizing, yet demure and oh-so-royal. Not to mention that it complemented what adorned her freshly manicured fingers: the 18-caret sapphire and diamond engagement ring that was previously worn by William’s mother, Princess Diana.

The Issa dress — designed by Brazilian Daniella Helayel — was an instant sensation, selling out in London’s Harvey Nichols within hours. The second shipment of the $535 dress, which arrived on NET-A-PORTER in early December, was gone just as fast. Then the knockoffs took over, some hitting the market for as low as $25.

Kate Middleton s the Duchess of Cambridge has been a trend setter since even before she was introduced as Prince William's fiancee in that blue Issa dress at their engagement announcement, her tummy is sure to be well dressed.

Coleen Rooney, Kim Kardashian and the Saturdays' Rochelle Humes are other celebs adapting their wardrobes for their pregnancy shape.

Pregnancy demands a new wardrobe, but luckily the high street caters for mums-to-be better than ever.

The Duchess of Cambridge's baby bump will reportedly be dressed by some of her closest friends in the fashion industry. According to new reports Princess Kate has called in two designer friends to design fashionable maternity clothes for the most-watched bump in the world. The Daily Mail reports Kate Middleton has commissioned Natasha Rufus Isaacs and Lavinina Brennan, co-founders of Beulah London, to design a maternity wardrobe fit for the royal bump. "She’s determined to remain fashionable between now and the birth and doesn’t want to be seen as frumpy," a friend of the Duchess' is quoted as saying.

High fashion designer Vivienne Westwood expressed her dismay over the Duchess' constant need to appear in new outfits, but the pregnant Catherine wishes to continue the style legacy she has established at an early stage.

Kate Middleton has always been known to appear in public events looking elegant, sporting designs from up-and-coming and high end fashion houses, ranging from Zara to Alexander McQueen. Though the fashion world and followers seem to be delighted with this grand display of clothing, designer Vivienne Westwood feels otherwise.

Fashion experts are defending the Duchess against Westwood's remarks, saying that Catherine is truly a bargain and a practical shopper and only buys expensive clothes for red carpet affairs.

"Kate is also a canny shopper. The blue tweed M Missoni coat she's been pictured in several times was purchased at the designer outlet Bicester Village where high fashion garments can be bought for a fraction of their normal price." says fashion expert Anna Krakowski.

One factor that Vivienne that might have urged Westwood to say those comments is the apparent "Kate Middleton effect." The "effect" urges shoppers and fashionistas around the world instantly look and shop for anything the Duchess wears to mimic her "elegant look." This only proves that the Duchess is indeed a style icon.
